Niche Websites
(Also Called Themed Web Sites) are sites that are clearly focused on
a single product/market area/theme/market segment.
Themed or Niche
- a Possible Distinction
Almost all web
sites are themed. For example, the theme of the Website could be
about making Websites.
A niche Website
would be about making Websites using FrontPage or making Websites
using Trillian Webpage.
Why Niche
Websites?
The Internet Is
vast and most people looking for Information or products on the
Internet use Search Engines to find them. In order to get your site
noticed on the Internet, you need to get noticed on the Search
Engines.
People search
on the Internet by entering words or phrases in the search bar.
These are known as keywords or keyword phrases. To get your Website
noticed it needs to be on the first three pages of the Search Engine
results page, and preferably the first page of your Website
keywords.
As far as the
potential visitors concerned if he/she can't find you on the first
three pages you don't exist! --- no visit.
Niche Websites
- The Benefits
By making a web
site based around a highly focused niche, you reduce considerably
the number of competitors that you're competing against. This makes
it easier to stand out in the search engines i.e. get a good ranking
(first three pages).
You need to
offset this by the fact that you will also reduce the number
potential visitors. However having a niche site means that visitors
to your site will generally have a greater interest in what you
offer, as your product, information or services is highly targeted
towards them.
If you're
selling a product or service, this means that your visitors are
already pre-qualified to buy. Hence your conversion rate
sales/visitors will be high this requiring less visitors for the
same number sales!
